In 1993 Topps presented collectors with a new shiny chrome based and refractor line of baseball cards.  The concept of parallel cards was essentially recreated as well.  If Topps did not introduce their new Topps Finest Set. The introduction of brilliant color bursting card sets may never have happened. It can fairly be said that that the introduction of Topps Finest in 1993 was an important milestone in baseball card history and the advancement of a newer higher tech look for certain baseball card sets. Topps Finest helped pave the way for not only Topps but other baseball card manufactures to introduce new sets of cards with similar appearances to Topps finest reflective properties. Topps finest helped advance Topps baseball card technology to a new level . Without the 1993 Topps Finest Baseball set, we might not have enjoyed all the advantages this new card technology brought to the hobby and market   Not only did these new sets impress most collectors, Topps finest also help Topps bounce back from the massive overproduction of the 1980s.

1993 Topps finest did not provide a full set, but instead the set consisted more high-profile players such as all-stars, record breakers, League leaders, popular players and more. The first print run of Topps finest cards for the public in 1993 contained a set of 199 cards. The set had a brilliant as well as shiny metallic look on front with a more basic card style on the back.

The 199-card base set consists mainly of the game's stars from the day. Regular 1993 Topps Finest Baseball cards have a busy design. A player photo is surrounded by a metallic circle in the middle. The top of the card has a bar that reads "Baseball's Finest" and the bottom of the card has a small nameplate with the player's name and Topps logo. Other than the photo, card fronts make no mention of the player's team or position. The 1993 set also contains a subset of strictly All-Stars in which a rainbow metallic format appears behind the players. These All-Stars also shoe numbers on player Jerseys, hats and other equipment in a brilliant and impressive layout. Both the Metallic appearance and the baseball card refractors present the collectors with an impressive array of mirror like shininess and a well-defined reflective pattern. Which by any standards would be hard for any collector or hobbyist in general to be unimpressed?

It’s no surprise that multiple cards in the 1993 Topps finest set have created a trend of high-priced cards on the re-seller market in newer years which was not seen in prior years and sets. Tis has become advantageous to the entire hobby in general, from basic collectors to grading companies. Another important factor regarding the newer technology implemented to these baseball cards Is the element of fraud. These cards are much harder to replicate in and make fraudulent replicas then cards back in the 60s 70s and 80s.

In conclusion the introduction of the 1993 Topps Finest set of cards were and still are a win-win for collectors and the enters baseball card industry.
